When I realized that there are things in our lives we are unaware of – the most important of which is that we are embarking on a beautiful journey together – I understood that we will wake up in love, with open hearts and meaningful days ahead. Let us not be upset if no one understands us; everyone has the right to express an opinion.

Not everyone who disagrees with our beliefs misunderstands us. Disagreement has been a tradition since time immemorial. It is the reason many of our false beliefs have been amended and restored to the right path, guided by respect for reason. This is the tradition of Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.

A quote I cherish from a doctor states: If a walking path were created first for our souls and then for the hearts of those around us, worry and grief would not enter our relationships, and distress and pain would be lifted from us.

Verses From The Time Of Al-Khalil

Since early childhood, I have been chanting verses from the hearts and emotions of poets from bygone eras.

Their poetry collections have inspired my soul with a magical, shadowy fragrance that blossoms with time, like the blooms of flowers in the early, dewy morning and settles deep within the memory of the soul and conscience.

My poetry collection includes poems that express most of the emotions experienced by the human soul, including love and passion, separation and reunion, joy and sorrow, pain and satire, and other purely human emotions. Poetry, as I see it, is a spiritual translation of the various experiences and hues of life.

I titled it Verses from the Time of Al-Khalil to honor the great scholar Al-Khalil ibn Ahmad Al-Farahidi. I hope to bring back to the heart – even if only a little – the breezes of early extraordinary magical melodies, and I hope I can lift the veil on a great legacy that soothes the passions of hearts and instills within them the tenderness necessary for humanity to manifest in its most beautiful form.

As for my poems and their verses, I wrote their words in a clear and somewhat simplified Arabic language, enabling them to connect directly with the readers’ hearts and delicate golden and silver fingertips and touch them with the whispers of the sun and moon.

For the heart is far greater than just a muscle with four chambers pumping blood to your limbs. It is more than a mere place to hide; more than a box where we curl up and disappear from the world.

It is greater than being a mere storage space for unwanted emotions, greater than being a trash bin for the remnants of the past. It is not a vault for pain we dare not speak aloud, nor a ground on which we expend our energy on feelings that harm us and drain those around us. Our hearts should not be something we wish to discard in our weakest moments. Let your heart be your source of radiance, your dwelling of strength and wisdom, your guide and companion on this long journey. Let it be sacred, for God’s throne is near it.

Do not keep your treasure buried deep within you alone. Inspire the world with it. Create goodness through it, the goodness you believe in. Each of us is fighting our own battle, facing unique circumstances – so let your heart be your partner and your savior.

I believe that hearts hold all the answers… all the solutions. We just need to care for them deeply, both in ways we feel and in ways we do not. We must protect them from harmful reactions, from the blows of unexpected events.

From barren sorrows that bear no comfort. Let your heart be as you would want it to be when it stands before God.
