A Practice tells the stories of twelve school children, each working one-on-one with a tutor to resolve their learning problem.
The 'tutor', a psychologist trained at Bank Street College of Education in The Clinical Teaching Model (by Selma Sapir), describes the trials and triumphs of therapeutic tutoring.
The progression of the tutor over twenty plus years parallels the growing attention to learning disabilities in the 1980s and ’90s. New theories and teaching methods inspired the different approach this tutor took in remedial tutoring.
Eventually she brought her approach to Horace Mann Middle School, where it became the foundation of their program for learning disabled children.

Phonological Error Patterns From A Clinical Perspective
Speech has two aspects, knowledge (phonology) and expression (articulation). During the development of phonology, children make systematic errors, targeting certain phonological element classes, called phonological error patterns which later on are modified and suppressed. The language is the most important component of civilizational existence and the distinguishing feature of nations. We can not deny the danger of language in shaping the identity of a people and in strengthening the bonds of their belonging to the nation.
Language is a verbal and written used to form thoughts, and its development is dependent on the development of the mind, as it is impossible for thought to develop unless it is accompanied by a linguistic development that accommodates everything new. And the knowledge development depends on cultural communication, as no thought originated and progressed in the ranks of advancement away from translation and acculturation, whether literary, scientific or philosophical.
And since language is a human product, it interacts with its surroundings by mutual influence, and its death or life depends on the death or life of its people.
Translation is the factor that extends the bridges of knowledge between the product of a person and the peculiarities of the self, as it makes itself the first means of civilized interaction, as it was and still is, along with other means, the most prominent channel for the transfer of knowledge between nations. It is the door through which the foreigner enters the local culture, and it has a great impact on directing its thought and developing its language.
This book shows the impact of transmission and translation on the Arabic language and its thought in the past, as well as the influence of the Arabic language and thought on translation in recent times, revealing how the translation – past and present – was introduced to Arabs in new worlds of knowledge that they did not have before, and opened the doors of scientific knowledge for them, and how it moved them beyond the limits of their cognitive horizon by highlighting how the translation worked to direct the intellectual practice of the Arabs, and changing the direction of their thinking in the past and present time.
We then tried to demonstrate the impact of translation on Arabic language and how it led to the expansion of its horizon, as well as how the impact of translation on the Arabic thought system bequeathed a development a change in its words. All these details and ramifications, we have worked to simplify it and expand it in this research.

The Peaks
Peaks that were extended by the heart, a meteor of words became cups in which my soul tasted tea and coffee. As nothing remains the same, after studying the Arabic language, I have figured that nothing can be built on peaks as they are not a base, and you can only refine using the same tools. In this aesthetic work, I opened a door for interpretation using Saad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Zeer’s writing as a clarification in the footnotes.

Fabrice Jaumont, nicknamed “Godfather of Language Immersion Programs" by The New York Times in 2014, is an education attaché for the French Embassy in the United States, with more than 25 years of experience in international education and multilingual programs development.
