Description

He abandoned all poetry laws And broke the rules and screamed, He screamed more… And he moved like a drunk, whose deep words are like a perfect symphony.

Ousmane Boune Oumr Ly is one of the prominent young poets in Mauritanian literature. He participated in many competitions and poetry festivals, the last of which was the ‘Prince of Poets’ competition’s final where he was officially given the title of a ‘Poet’ by the judging committee. The poet won first place in the major Harra’a Poetry Competition in 2010, the Rassoul Poetry Competition organized by the National Television for remote participants in 2011, and The Mauritanian Writers Union Festival Competition in 2012. The poet started his poetry career about a decade and a half ago, and in addition to this collection he has another one entitled Drawings on the Sand.
