This remarkable carpet was presented to His Holiness Pope Francis by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan - may God protect him - during his visit to the Vatican in September 2016. The Sheikha Fatima bint Mohammed bin Zayed Project for Sustainable Development supports these skilled women weavers, providing them with employment and education for their children, in a sustainable humanitarian effort aimed at improving their lives.

The Carpet of Peace is a heartwarming tale that beautifully captures the resilience and strength of the Afghan people, and the hope that peace can bring to a troubled land.
