This book, in its five chapters, discusses multiple important topics regarding disasters and crises management. It discusses how to deal with them in preparing, planning, and responding to the needs arising from them as well as the recovery method and surpassing their destructive effects. The book includes basic topics in this field including disaster classification and analyzing and managing related risks. It also includes extensive information on planning and response mechanisms for the various entities and operating institutions, and on applying and activating the pre-made plans. It explains the meaning of Temporal Disaster Curve and includes a general look on the post disaster stage and how to deal with it. The book also mentions the effects of every disaster, which is for the purpose of proposing the procedures and plans necessary to recover from and overcome them. The book includes in its final chapter a group of examples of Arab and international natural disasters that happened in the last years and analyzes and discusses them. The purpose of this is to give the reader a clearer idea, which is supported with numbers and pictures of these disasters. This shows the lessons that we have learned and leaves us prepared for what might happen in the future in similar incidents.

Azzam Ahmed Abu Habib A researcher specialized in the field of disasters and crises management. He has a PhD in Civil Engineering from the National University, Malaysia (UKM). Assistant professor in the Masters of Disaster and Crisis Management program in the Faculty of Science, Islamic University, Gaza. He is a consultant for many local and international institutions in the field of emergency management and has more than 15 researches published in many international magazines as well as international and local conferences. Saeed Nabil Abu Eita A researcher specialized in the field of disasters and crises management. He has a master’s degree in Disaster and Crisis Management from the Islamic University as well as a diploma in professional security management from the International Security Management Institute, London. He is a consultant in risk management and assessment. Mohammad Ibrahim Jouda A researcher specialized in the field of disasters and crises management. He has a master’s degree in Disaster and Crisis Management from the Islamic University and a high diploma in the Management of civil society institutions. He has a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Control Engineering. He works as an employee and consultant in the field of emergency, security and safety management for many international relief and non-governmental institutions set up in conflict and disaster areas. A member of the board of directors of the Occupational Safety and Health Institute, Palestine. Hadi Fathi Khalil A researcher specialized in the field of disasters and crises management. He has a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Control Engineering and a master’s degree in Disaster and Crisis Management from the Islamic University, Gaza. He has been working, for several years, in international institutions in the fields of emergency planning and security consultations that enable workers to carry out their professional and relief programs.
