So Many Hats (or Veils)

We play many roles in life and wear many hats: the human, the individual, the romantic, the man or woman, the parent, etc. 

Can you make a connection with someone who seems so foreign to you, someone who wears hats you can’t begin to understand? Hats that - on first glance - may even seem threatening to you? 

Is it possible to wear many hats without losing yourself, to integrate them into one “I”?

These are some questions I explore in my poetry, questions that float around in my head, under my own many hats.

Underneath

all my hats,

my eyes—

they stay the same.

Burn layers of ego, shadows, traumas, and hidden vice

Burn the falsehood of earthly fights

Burn your depths to screams and aches

Sophie's World

“Luckily, the parking lot only deleted footage every three months because of the relatively heavy flow of tourism that took place at Cramond Ghost Island during the summer months. The old man in charge of the parking lot security cameras asked us why we needed the footage. Ethan told him that I met someone there at noon on a Saturday in July and that the police needed to verify that this meeting took place on that date.

     The old man had to review footage of the four Saturdays in July. He grumbled as he escorted us to a small viewing room at the rear end of the parking lot. Ethan and I sat down next to the old man as he began his search. He rolled back to the first Saturday at noon but found nothing. The second Saturday also showed nothing. On the third Saturday, my car appeared in the footage as I parked in between two cars at exactly twelve o’clock in the afternoon. The man kept the film rolling for me for another half an hour. Andy’s car never appeared.”

Soul Story

Soul Story is the journey of a man who is falling prey to his addictions and disintegrating piece by piece into a darkness that is taking over his life. Haunted by this curse to which his father too was a victim, he fights against his demons that are consuming him. Though he is chained and imprisoned by his thirst for substances that are destroying his life, he is seeking answers, as he dreams of a life of fulfillment and happiness.

He yearns to be the best version of himself but is losing to his darkness that has taken total control over him. Dreaming to free himself from the bondage he has become a victim of, he looks for a life worth living where he conquers his demons and achieves the impossible of reaching his dreams and bringing peace to his father.

 The journey he takes leads him on an unusual path where he discovers something in him that he was carrying all his time. Something that had all the answers for which he was searching, and the only thing that can set him free.

It teaches individuals to be more alert and safer in the surrounding that they are in. This book simply goes through the importance of first aid awareness, as well as specific first aid manoeuvres and in which situations these techniques should be applied.
