We often believe that the light in our lives sometimes shines and sometimes dims, but this is only a failure of our vision. The one who brought light to guide the children of Adam out of darkness still surrounds us with his radiance.

As humans, we long to escape the darkness of life and search for the question that will either lead us toward light or deceive us into a false path. The characters in this book have each asked that question and embarked on their own journeys. Some have emerged victorious, while others have suffered great loss.

Follow the journey of a rural girl who believes the light in her life has vanished. She asks herself, ‘How can I live without you?’, and as she searches for an answer, darkness begins to surround her. She must choose between a light that appears merciful but hides torment or the courage to face the darkness in the hope of finding true salvation. But this choice is not hers alone. The decision she makes will determine not only her fate but also that of her little brother.

Will she seek the true light, or will she be consumed by the shadows?

As you complete this journey, I hope you will take a moment to reflect and ask yourself: ‘Where is the light?’ in all aspects of your life. The opportunity to seek it remains as long as the soul resides within us.

Mithlaa Maher Al-Barwani, 25, is from the Sultanate of Oman and a graduate of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, where she majored in Applied Biology.

Books have always been a part of her life, from bedtime stories with her mother to the fairy tales she told her sister. Her love for reading grew with her addiction to the Impossible Man series, the adventures of A × 2, and the Fear Street series.

Her passion for writing began with her sister, who would craft stories and share them with her. Inspired by this, she started writing seriously at seventeen. The Palestinian cause deeply moved her, and the suffering of the people of Gaza stirred her pen. Determined to shed light on injustice, she wrote a story about the struggles of Muslims and made a promise to herself that her first published work would be a religious book.
