The Maze portrays a soul lost between two worlds that it imagines as between illusion and reality, and the soul’s inability to separate between them and determine which one it belongs to. In order to find the right path, it will have to embark on a journey of searching for the self through the past, and the events that led to its formation in that form, until it realizes the truth, accepts its essence, and is freed from all that weighs it down with disappointment and setbacks, represented by moving forward, leaving the past and memories, and arriving at the world of spirits.

Areej Munadhil was born in the Al-Zubair district of Basra Governorate and later moved to Diwaniyah, where she completed her primary education. After the fall of the regime, her family returned to their ancestral home in a small district near Nasiriyah, where Areej finished her secondary education. She then earned a bachelor’s degree in Radiology from the Middle Technical University in Baghdad in 2014, the year the terrorist organization ISIS invaded, causing significant unrest in the capital. She grew up in a middle-class family; her father was a history teacher and the principal of a boys’ middle school.
