The book Hulagu’s Widow is a new and diverse collection of twenty wonderful short stories that address serious and compelling themes from contemporary life in our emerging Arab societies.

It sheds light on the challenges of everyday human life, as well as aspects of the natural ecosystem surrounding humans and the beautiful creatures that share their natural environment, which is teeming with life and brimming with optimism and hope.

These stories also address some of people’s social, livelihood, and emotional concerns and problems. These serious short stories provide intellectual enjoyment and useful knowledge for the reader’s life and future. They shed light on the trials faced by individuals, families, and society throughout all stages of life and its successive milestones and emphasize the noble, constructive values in people’s social lives—such as cooperation, patience, compassion, pure love, sacrifice, and other virtuous values.

These stories also aim to provide insight and understanding into the emotional and psychological dimensions of life, as well as the intellectual, social, and political conflicts faced by individuals, families, and society, through a literary style that is deceptively simple and through the dazzling Arabic language and its enchanting eloquence, offering readers a unique intellectual and emotional delight at every stage and juncture of life. This collection of wonderful stories is for all members of the family—young and old alike—and we hope everyone enjoys it.
