Ayar wakes up from her sleep after getting rid of the nightmare that has haunted her since she left everything behind in Syria and chose to go to France as a means of escaping the ghosts of the past, in a desperate attempt to get rid of the ghosts of a painful past.

The characters in the novel are woven together in a series of intense events, showing us how a long war that robbed them of their lives in one way or another has affected them.

Raneen Abu Fakhr, an interior design graduate, published her first novel, Al-Tariq Al-Wasee (The Wide Road), in 2017. She has participated in several exhibitions, including the Sharjah International Book Fair, the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Cairo Book Fair, and the Baghdad Book Fair, where her work has been well received locally.

She wrote the first words of her novel in Damascus at the Salimaniya Takiyya seven years ago, completing it in the United Arab Emirates after moving there.

Her activities were not limited to writing, as she participated in several art exhibitions at her university, the International University of Science and Technology.

She also participated as a speaker on the Afkarz platform, which promotes contemporary youth ideas in our society, volunteered with a team caring for children without family care in Syria, and participated in organizing with UNICEF to educate and prepare displaced children to return to school.
