Human Rights Day is observed internationally on the 10th of December each year. A milestone that secures the basic rights of every human being regardless of race, religion, gender, language, political, civil, social and other statuses.
On the 10th of December 1948, this day was the first global declaration of human rights and a major achievement for the United Nations. The formal establishment of Human Rights Day occurred in 1950 after the United Nations General Assembly passed resolution 423(V).
When the declaration was initially adopted, 48 states were in favour with 8 states opposing. Today’s consent of all United Nations Member States on the basic human rights mentioned in the Declaration makes it stronger and emphasises the relevance of Human Rights in our daily lives.
