Description

It was hard to imagine the post-apocalyptic world that only existed in the movies, had suddenly become reality in the city of Matana. With the Budlyt-19 virus continuing to spread, leading pharmaceutical companies battle for the antidote and the wealth they would be rewarded with in return. Little did Nadia know she would unwillingly be entangled in the pharmaceutical corruption of LithLabs after receiving cryptic messages from an anonymous source. Taken against her own will, Nadia becomes the test subject of a gruelling medical trial and is injected with a deep purple dose of Budlyt-19.
Friends turn to foes, loyalty turns to betrayal and antidote turns to obsession in a capitalist pursuit of Matana. Will Nadia ever escape the hands of corruption? Or will the colour purple stay true to its meaning of wealth, power and ambition for the corrupt.

Devika Sharma, Project co-ordinator of The Moving Type resides in Dubai as a marketing professional, “The strongest chapters are born from the toughest times. In the midst of a pandemic, it was incredible to connect with complete strangers from all over the world who couldn’t be more different from each other, and yet, here we were creating a beautiful little cocoon that we could escape to by just doing what brings us unparalleled happiness and purpose. Each chapter carries its own style, its own agenda, its own voice. Even if there wasn’t a big heading separating each chapter, you would immediately be able to tell that a new writer has begun working on the story."

Great story, unique idea, flawless execution!

  2. Rated 4 out of 5

The Moving Type is a truly unique book that is one story with one-hundred writers’ contributions to it and edited by one person to craft it into shape.

The story is about a global virus similar to covid called Budlyt-19 and the global pandemic it causes. The book is fast-paced and full of action with elements of suspense too. We see huge pharmaceutical companies battle each other for the antidote to this virus and see the main character Nadia become entangled in the corruption of LifaLabs pharmaceutical after receiving a cryptic message anonymously. She then becomes a real-life test subject for the antidote solution to the virus and is injected with a purple dose of the live virus. We see people turn on each other, stakes made high and corruption abound in this fast-paced dystopian post-apocalyptic thriller where no one can be trusted.

I flew through this book and found it very well edited considering it has such a high amount of contributions to the story.
